Drinking Gourd Ceremonies was founded out of a recognition that, for African Americans and other members of the diaspora of western Africa, a traditional, or tradition-inspired, life ceremony (such as child-naming or wedding), can be a powerful way to reclaim, reconnect to, and celebrate our shared cultural legacy.
